Rao Zongyi is born in Chaozhou County, Guangdong Province, 1917 and lived in Hong Kong. He was styled Gu’an, or Bolian, Bozi, and literarily known as Xuan Tang. As a famous scholar contemporary, Rao is called Sinology Master both at home and abroad. Rao was very skillful in literature, painting and playing qin(an music instrument), whose landscape painting was informal yet formed a unique style of his own; he drew human portraits with line drawing in traditional ink and brush style, which was a distinctive approach; his calligraphy rooted epigraphy text, which was both honest and smart with unique charm. He was elected the 7th president of Xiling Seal Engraver's Society in 2011.
