Wu Changshuo (1844-1927), whose given name was Jun or Junqing, called himself Cangshi or Cangshuo, known for his literary name Foulu, Kutie. Born in Anji, Zhejiang, Wu was considered a master of modern seal engraving and painting, with "four unique skill" for his poem, calligraphy, painting and seal engraving. He was skilled at all kinds of character styles in calligraphy, but was particularly good at inscriptions on drum shaped stone blocks, which are vigorous in each stroke and of great momentum; His seal engraving was forceful and firm, blending the concept of character styles in painting, which has a far-reaching influence. Wu was elected the first president of Xiling Seal Engraver's Society in 1913.
