Calligraphy work of Zhao Puchu


Zhao Puchu (1907-2000), whose given name was Rongxu, literarily known as Pianshi, was born in Taihu County of Anhui province and lived in Beijing. He was a respected scholar as well as a calligrapher and poet, and President of China Buddhist Association. Zhao was good at calligraphy, especially running hand style and regular script; his calligraphy was rigorous in structure and forceful in strokes, bearing a graceful and generous air. Zhao was elected the fifth president of the Society in 1993.
